Jeremy Piven Cambridge Concert reviews
Best value concert ever attended.
The NorVa has always been one of my favorite venues to see concerts at, and I'd recommend it to anyone. A Jeremy Piven show at the NorVa? Clearly gold. Not only that, but I would recommend it to anyone. There's a reason this concert sold out more quickly than any other stop on the tour. I paid $45 to be close enough to see the sweat bead on Billy Corgan's bald head. I would have paid up to four times as much and still been satisfied. Though there isn't a bad spot in the house at the NorVa because it is such an intimate venue, I got there early to get close. Bad City, the first opener, put on a great show. Their energy was high and reminiscent of Iggy and the Stooges, even though I had never heard of them. Kill Hannah, a bigger name, was next and also put on a pretty good show, though most preferred the no-name Bad City. There was a bit of a wait for the headliner to take the stage, but when they did, it was dynamite. Jeremy Piven played for over two hours. When a drum head broke, the frontman played two bonus songs all by himself, and that was a real treat. Billy Corgan, living up to his name, was nothing short of electric with his uniquely growly voice and virtuosic guitar solos. Though the show was long and demanding on the performers, they came out for an encore that the pumped crowd demanded and played for a full half hour after that, not just a song or two. Nowhere in the time the SP were on stage did the energy lull.
I really can't say I have a complaint. I travelled 4 hours to attend, and it was worth it. This is possibly the best concert I've been to in my entire life as a pretty dedicated concert-goer. Neither were the SP my favorite band ever before this, though they have now risen in the ranks. I would definitely pay to go see them again. I was also happily surprised by Bad City, who were not only great on stage but very personable with their fans. I now own a signed Bad City t-shirt, and when their album drops, I'll own that too.
I would recommend later stops on this tour to anyone, anywhere. Pre-teens to middle-aged men and women in attendance came away not disappointed.
